Overview
Sutton Meadows Airfield lies in the rural fenlands of East Anglia. From the air, it’s easy to spot thanks to the nearby “100 Foot Drains,” but finding it by road can be a little tricky—so please follow these directions carefully.
Directions by Road
1. From Sutton Village (West End):
Take Bury Lane out of Sutton towards Sutton Gault and The Anchor Restaurant.
After about 1 mile, you’ll pass The Anchor on your left.
2. Continue over the bridges:
Stay on The Causeway, crossing the two bridges over the “100 Foot Drains.”
Just 50 yards after the second bridge, turn left by the telephone box.
You’ll see a small yellow signpost for the Cambs Microlight Club.
⚠️ Note: The road soon becomes a bumpy farm track—please drive slowly.
3. Follow the farm track:
After 0.4 miles, bear right with the road (just after passing a farmhouse).
Continue for 0.7 miles, then go around a sharp left bend—you should see the windsock on your right in the distance.
Carry on for another 0.7 miles until you reach a T-junction.
Turn right, and the airfield entrance is 200 yards ahead on the right.
4. Parking:
Park on the grass area next to the caravans and hangar.
Flooding Information
Occasionally, the road across Sutton Gault may be flooded. If this happens, an alternative route via Chatteris will usually be signposted.
